Jonathan Adam Saunders “Jay” Baruchel (born April 9, 1982) is often a Canadian actor. He has had a successful career in comedy films, and has appeared in such box office successes as Knocked Up, Tropic Thunder, She’s Out of My League and How to Train Your Dragon.
Personal life
Baruchel was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the son of Robyne , a freelance writer, and Serge Baruchel, an antiques dealer.He grew up and even now lives inside the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighborhood of Montreal, Quebec,and includes a younger sister, Taylor. His father was of half Sephardic Jewish and half French Canadian ancestry, and his mother is of Irish Catholic background; he has stated that he is “probably agnostic”.
Baruchel is really a fan of the Montreal Canadiens. He carries a red Maple Leaf tattoo on his left pectoral, which might be witnessed in Fanboys and Knocked Up.
Career
One of his initial significant acting roles was on nearby television sequence My Hometown in 1996. From 1997–1998, he co-hosted Popular Mechanics for Kids with Elisha Cuthbert. Right after appearing briefly in Cameron Crowe’s Oscar-winning Almost Renowned, Baruchel won the role of Steven Karp on Judd Apatow’s acclaimed yet short-lived television sequence Undeclared, exactly where he starred alongside Seth Rogen, Carla Gallo, Charlie Hunnam, and Monica Keena. He then appeared with James Van Der Beek in Roger Avary’s The Rules of Attraction.
In 2004, Baruchel played boxing hopeful Danger Barch in Clint Eastwood’s Million Dollar Baby, which received an Oscar for Very best Picture the following year. Baruchel was between individuals thanked by Eastwood through his acceptance speech.
Baruchel then starred in Nemesis Game and Fetching Cody prior to appearing opposite Don Johnson on the WB’s Just Legal in 2005 and guest-starring on CBS’s Emmy Award-nominated Numb3rs in 2006.
Baruchel appeared inside the films Knocked Up (which reunited him with Judd Apatow, Jason Segel, and Seth Rogen), I’m Reed Fish, and Just Buried and also the Ben Stiller-directed Tropic Thunder alongside Jack Black, Nick Nolte, Steve Coogan and Robert Downey Jr. He co-starred with Seth Rogen inside the 2007 pre-pre-production trailer Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse, a movie designed by Rogen and Evan Goldberg being a method to garner interest and funding. In 2008, he came out in Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.
Baruchel starred from the 2010 films The Trotsky, She’s Out of My League (co-starring Alice Eve) and Tips on how to Train Your Dragon, and will appear in a very live-action Disney adaptation of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. He is building a screenplay, The Goon, with Evan Goldberg, and will play Johnny Klutz, a character of his personal creation, inside a film from the very same name.Baruchel will also star in and direct the comedy/horror/slasher movie Pig.
